People only have to remember how to do something or learn something by heart. If you study the day before the exam in a period of two weeks you willl almost forget all you have studied for your culture exam or your social-science exam.
They only put a mark for how well you remember something not how well you know it. With this type of education you can't learn something for your whole life unless you study day by day what you do in class, which is something that is not required by your school. Most of times you can have better marks studying the day before the exam, in this way you will forget everything in a period of two weeks, than someone who has studied everything day by day and for months will remember what you have studied from the exam.
What is your opinion about the Spanish education?
What will you do to improve it?
The things that you are learning it might forget but if you continue doing or your teacher ask you each day, you may not forget it. For example me at school my language and literature teacher ask us every day 3 pages or more and that is how we learn and we keep it for the future.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anne, if you learn it everyday, at the end you will estudy it and you won't forget it. Even if you don't realise, you will know whatever you have leanrt.
ReplyDeleteThe education system is ridiculous in this country and now, with the change of system, is going to be more ridiculous. I agree with Telmo, this education assess the capacity that one person have to remember 10 or 9 o how much they are and it isn't mind about others capacity that are more importan to know for your life.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that the education system is not good in this country. It is all about short-term memorizing and endless exams. That is exactly why I don't tell you precisely when you are going to have a test, so I know that you haven't just crammed the night before. Sadly, thanks to the current Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove, a complete imbecile, the same thing is now happening in Great Britain. It's not quite as bad as here yet, but it's getting there. One thing that I think is still better in Britain is that the only exams that anyone cares about are nationwide ones. Because of this, the results are much more comparable and at the end of school you don't have to do separate school and university-entrance exams. Good choice of topic, Telmo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Telmo and Naroa, the education sistem needs lots of improvements. And day to day is getting worse and worse; this way of examining people it's ridiculous, who has the skill of remembering thing easily is given the best mark.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we forget things. The other day we had an exam of history and our teacher put us quetions tha we don't have to learn but that se had explained in class. She wanted to know if we remmenbered it and my class got relly angry. It was stupid because in my case when I study biology or history the following days I don't remmenber it well.
ReplyDeleteI think tha studying by heart is a waste of time. We should work every day a bit a not studying all in the day before
ReplyDeleteEducation in Spain it's only about memorazing things to pass an exam.
